Jesus excising His authority to teach about FAITH ,He cursed a fig tree which had no fruits on the way to Jerusalem . According to gospels of Mathew and Mark, the tree was full of leaf but no fruits(figs). This maybe it was it's season for figs to ripening and being harvested but the tree was not producing (barren).
Although the subject matter to the disciples was FAITH but there is also a warning about consequences of failing to produce good fruit (Spiritual and Moral).
THE FIG TREE
- In the old testament (Genesis 3:7) Adam and Eve made themselves aproons of the fig leaves. Others call fig leaf "Idion Fig Leaf" which means: Cover, Camouflage or to Conceal.
- Fig tree is mentioned in the Holy bible almost 44 times both in old and new Testament.
- This tree is a very important tree and fruit in Isreal for economic, cultural and provision for food to animals,birds and human beings. -(Thereare 750 to 850 species of fig trees in the world from desert to rain forest climates .
Our focus in today's Checklist is that we should always bear the fruit of the Spirit.
THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT.
The fig tree showed barreness because Jesus Christ looking at its leaf expected to find figs but he found nothing.
- In Galatians 5: 22-23 the bible speaks of the fruit 🍓 of the Spirit.
- Any born again Christian should bear/ produce a fruit of the Spirit and has to be developing through the word of God at course of time.
- Each fruit is supposed to be ripe and be attractive to those who wants to eat or get it for a seed or other purposes. .
- Some birds,insects,worms and animals will also be attached for their own different purposes also.
For this tree to bear fruit it passes through different hardships,heavy rains, blows of wind from different directions and angles in different seasons.
- Any devoted believe should understand this concept from fruit bearing in a tree.
- Jesus Christ knew everything about this tree before reaching it.
- Feeling hungry to eat a fig fruit ended in a demonstration of faith lessons to His disciples.
CONCLUSION
As believers we must bear a fruit of the Spirit as indicated in Galatians 5 :22-23, regardless of what we are passing through in our christian walk.
- God expects us to manifestation the following fruit of the Spirit as his character/ nature: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience(For bearince), Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Selfcontrol.
- We must have qualities of the fruits evedent in the lives of a Christian,
- This is essential to a living Christian life regardless of what we are passing through.
