MARY MAGADELENE -Luke 7:36-49
Jesus was invited by Simon the Pharisees in his house to eat with Him. A certain woman who was a sinner heard about the presence of Jesus Christ and brought her ALABASTER FLASK OF FRAGRANT OIL. She knelt down at Jesus’ feet began to weep to wash the Lords feet with oil and wipe them with her hair. She is called Mary of Bethany the same called Mary Magdalene a sister of Martha and her brother Lazarus.
Magdalene was was not her surname but she was coming from a fishing village western part of the Sea of Galilee. called Magadala. .
Semion Thoughts
Deep down in the heart of Simon Pharisees (Owner of the house) Saw Jesus as not a prophet and a sinful woman .(Verse 39 ….This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of a woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.
Judas speaks against.
Judas reacts to Mary’s anointing of Jesus by questioning the financial value of her act. He suggests the perfume, which was worth a significant amount, should have been sold for the benefit of the poor.
Judas’s reaction highlights a fundamental difference in values between him and Mary. While Mary expressed her devotion through a costly act of love for Jesus, Judas viewed it through a purely economic and self-serving perspective.
Semion Thoughts
When Simeon, the owner of the house saw Mary pouring oil on jesus’ feet touch Jesus’eet, he really believe Jesu was not a who he initially believe he was, a prophet. He was remarked in his heart ” If this man was a prophet surely he would have known the kid o woman touching his feet.
He judged mary based on his knowledge of her.
Jesus saw beyond
- Jesus Christ saw ministry PARTNER AS KINGDOM FINANCIER (Luke 8:1-3) and not a sinner.
- He saw beyond a woman with devils or evil spirits but a mobilizer or connector and leader of other women in a Support Jesus Ministry.
- Jesus saw a woman in a team others who first preached about the resurrection of Jesus Christ to the Disciples.
- Jesus saw a missionary in the now France where she then after a lonely stay in a cave for 30years was taken to heaven taken to heaven by the Angels.
